As Engineering Manager in the JTL Selling area, you ensure that requirements are reliably turned into functional, high-quality software. You create clarity around goals, risks, and priorities, and support your team in delivering sustainably and autonomously.
In doing so, you work closely with your team, Product Management, and architects. You are not solely responsible for product strategy or architectural decisions – but you are able to challenge them and contribute meaningfully based on your technical understanding. Your focus lies on operational delivery, team leadership, and quality assurance in day-to-day operations.
At JTL, AI-assisted software development is part of our everyday work. Our teams use tools such as GitHub Copilot, NotebookLM, and Claude. We don't expect "AI gurus," but we do expect openness to modern development tools and the ability to assess their use thoughtfully.
In practice, this means:
- You use AI assistants and agents to accelerate your daily work and know when to critically evaluate their output.
- You are familiar with agentic workflows: you assign AI tools multi-step tasks, review results critically, and iterate from there.
- You actively follow new developments in AI-assisted software development and share your knowledge with the team.
Your responsibilities
- You lead a development team – both professionally and disciplinarily – and support the technical and personal growth of its members.
- You are responsible for the reliable delivery of your team and ensure realistic planning, transparency, and early communication of risks.
- You organize and manage the operational development process – e.g. refinements, sprint/iteration planning, and ongoing prioritization.
- Together with Product Management, you ensure that requirements are clear, actionable, and sufficiently prepared.
- You coordinate technical assessments, estimations, and dependencies together with the team.
- You ensure transparent reporting on progress, risks, and deviations from plan.
